FROM CANDIDATE TO COLLEAGUE

OUR SELECTION PROCESS IS DESIGNED FOR US TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER

Here are some tips we’ve put together to help guide you through your candidate journey with us.

Set your Expectations

Choosing a new career or job is a huge decision that impacts a big part of your life. The best way to find the right fit for you is to start with self-reflection and defining what you want.

  • What are you passionate about?
  • What are your interests?
  • What are your unique experiences and perspectives?

These are a few questions to consider as you prepare for your job search.

Resume

When writing your resume, ask yourself these 2 questions:

  1. Is it succinct – can the reader easily digest the information?
  2. Is it relevant – did I demonstrate the expertise required for the job?

We love to know what you did (your tasks/responsibilities), how you did it (methodologies/systems), who it benefited or served (your client base/target market), and what the accomplishments were.

Cover Letter

If you choose to include a cover letter with your application, we’d love to see an overview of your career objectives, professional achievements, and your motivation to join us.

Interviews

Our process varies depending on role, but you can expect:

  • 2-3 Interviews
    • Be prepared to answer behavioral, opinion and performance-based questions.
    • Research who we are, what we do as an organization and look up your interviewers on LinkedIn.
    • We want you to get to know us and hope you ask us questions too.
    • For virtual interviews, please test your audio and video prior to the call and ensure that your background is what you would like us to see.
    • We’re a smart casual environment; wear what feels comfortable for you.
    • Most importantly, be exactly who you are and have fun!
  • An online assessment

You may be asked to complete a brief assessment measuring your cognitive skills. This helps us understand your capacity to learn, adapt and solve problems.

  • A case study

You may be asked to complete a short case study, small project or write code to help us better understand how you approach problems.

  • Our support

Please let us know of any accommodations needed so that you can bring your best self the application process and beyond.

Offer/Decision

After the interview process your recruiter will let you know what our decision is.

Sometimes not getting selected is more about the timing rather than a reflection of your experience. If you’re not selected the first time, please don’t let that deter you from applying to other roles in the future.

It is refreshing to work for a company that doesn’t treat Equity, Diversity and Inclusion as a box ticking exercise but instead actively promotes and encourages people to be their authentic selves at work. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have always felt comfortable being who I am while working for Equitable Bank. The company has created a welcoming environment for people from all walks of life which is one of my favorite things about working here.
